Yay! for Tessa and Scott, their first of what I'm sure will be many medals, and winning the free dance! Yay! for Sinead and John, their first top-ten placing! Oh, and of course congrats to Delobel and Schoenfelder too -- I really like this team, they have the French flair without all the froufroufiness.

I do feel a bit bad for Tanith and Ben. Yes, it totally sucks to be out of the medals because of a silly slip in the CD ... but it is a sport, and that's how it goes. They were also given a huge gift in their component marks in the CD, and could easily have been further down than they were.

It doesn't seem like B&A would have won anyway even without the slip in the CD. That's bad for them. They seem to be sliding backward in the eyes of the international judges.

^ No, they wouldn't have won regardless ... but they might have made the podium.

My own personal impression of B&A is not that they've slipped per se, but that they've stagnated somewhat. They haven't really upped their game for years, and other teams have. They're definitely still contenders and can't be counted out of any competition, but not the "it team" any more.

I feel that that's just how political the ice dancing jduging is.. One day you're in, the next day you're out... I can't believe this is happening to B & A already... I hope it won't happened to the Canadians..

As much as I am happy for the Canadians for skating so well and winning the silver medal, I can't help but feel that their medal wil result in tremendous pressure to medal at 2010 and then disappointment if they don't medal in the end..... The absence of many teams at this year's world championships lead all 3 teams to medal ...

I think it's the opposite - remember when teams had to skate for years to be considered for a podium spot? And how the ordinals never changed, or if they did it was sooo amazing? I think the politics are out of it now, actually.

Hmm, I'm not so concerned about that. Sure, there will be pressure, but there's always pressure on the home-town favourite. Plus there's a very good chance that D&L will be back for 2010 (that's what they've said anyway), so with two Canadian teams in the hunt they'll be able have a healthy rivalry that can only improve both (think Kurt & Elvis).

Yes, I do remember that.. and I still think the politics are still existe...but it's hard to tell now, being that the judges are now anonymous behind this new ISU judging system.

Let's see how the competition will be like the next few years to come....

I really hope D & L will manage to get back to the top if they decide to compete again. I was just thinking about this the other day, had they compete at these worlds, I think they could have easily won the gold!

The sign language in D & S's free dance made me think of flippet. Flippet--I hope you got to see it (or get to see it if it is rebroadcast sometime later).

I think the Bulgarians could've easily won their 3rd World title. They've always brought originality and excitement to the dance division. They were missed.

I didn't get B&A's free dance this year. I didn't see how they thought that program would've help catapult them into first place at Worlds. I also didn't care for their OD country hoe down; It seemed so, so .... cheesy.

I thought B&A's free dance at Nats had a little more "fire in the belly" or spark to it than when they did it at worlds.

I didn't mind the cheese so much as I thought it wasn't dancy enough. They did manage to get all the required elements in, but it seemed like they had to switch out of the program to do so. The straight line step sequence in particular looked completely out of character to the music, and didn't even take advantage of the fast tempo of the music.
