Is it just an USA rule (or low level rule?) that you have to cover your stomach with your costume (therefore most people would use illusion fabric if they want to look like they have a bare stomach?)

I could have sworn that you can't show a belly button in competition but in ice networks pictures of Savchenko and Szolkowy you can clearly see her belly button- no illusion fabric. So does this rule not apply to international competitions, or did I make it up entirely?

I can't answer your question as such, but although I can recal seeing plenty of flesh in pairs and dance events, I can't remember ever seeing it in singles - could that be the rule?

Some of the costumes are pretty out there, as there is practically not much left to the imagination in some pf them. I still like the simple costumes, which have a nice flow to them. I wish they would outlaw the tacky ones!
