View Full Version : A Couple of Quick Questions About Judging Procedures
How do judges remember that they gave a 4.6/4.4 to Skater A and a 4.4/4.6 to Skater B? Do they each have a sheet in front of them to keep a running tally?
And if they use computers, do they keep running tallies of the other judges' ordinal placements?

They all take notes. If they are called upon they must produce these notes to justify their placements. I assume they keep track of their marks and ordinals.
It is my understanding that they are not supposed to even be aware of anything that the other judges are doing. They are not supposed to even look at each other.

We have to write everything on a JPR, or judges' personal record. This includes shorthand notes on elements, technique, presentation, deductions and the reasoning behind them, as well as the marks awarded and the total of the two marks. Too much is going on to pay attention to what others are doing.
