Is it VII? I've lost track, and they didn't say on the broadcast.
Anyway, I thought it was ok. Not the best by far, but not the worst either. The Temptations were great, Boys II Men were not bad. Not many of the skates really knocked my socks off, though. I think the best one was Shae & Kurt's "Proud Mary."

I found it pretty boring overall...

I'm kind of glad to hear others weren't too impressed with it either. I couldn't help but think the skating specials are all starting to look alike. However, it's better than no skating shows, right?;)

I wasn't too impressed either, but I watched a few of the skaters, and it was nice to see skating.
I was just so annoyed with the camera work. They'd zoom in on a blade during a spin- where body position is like 90% of what's interesting. And then zoom in on their head and shoulders during footwork, where I want to know what their feet are doing!

I haven't seen the show, but I totally hear you on crappy camera work.
SO MUCH of how a program comes across to an audience has to do with the camera work, and the *direction* of said camera work. A director can just about make or break a show.
I always think about Michelle Kwan's specific performance of East of Eden at the World Pros competition. She performed it flawlessly a few times that season, but that specific performance gives me chills every time, and quite a lot of it is to do with the direction, and choice of camera angles, whether it was zoomed in or out, whether the camera moved along with her, or stood back with a still, wide view, whether it filmed her moving toward the camera, or away...there are so many choices to make, and that director made all the best ones.
You've got to wonder sometimes whether the directors of these shows really understand skating or not. It often doesn't seem like it.

I went to the taping of this show and I missed seeing it on TV. What I was impressed about it in person was how well the currently competing skaters performed. They didn't skate down a notch because it was a show, they did full speed, considering that it was show sized ice, not a bad feat.
I did notice, and this isn't a complaint because I love the guy, but Kurt Browning knows where every camera is and makes sure that he is performing to the camera so that the shots are good. Or, in other words, there aren't any shots of his backside unless he wants there to be.
Is the show going to be rebroadcast anywhere?

In past years it's been broadcast on CBC, usually in December some time. There's nothing listed at the CBC site yet for this year, but if/when it is I'll post in the TV Alerts section.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought this show was boring. I still haven't finished watching it because it doesn't hold my interest long enough!
Amen on the camera work.

Count me in as another who thought it was a bit boring. I watched it on Sunday, and flipped to ESPN where they were hsowing Cup of China, I think. It just couldn't hold my interest very long.

I'd definetly choose cup of china over a show, but I don't have cable :(

I didn't check the schedules, and my TiVo recorded the show, not cup of china (I have it set to automatically record all skating, but wasn't aware of the schedule conflict) :(

The same thing will happen again on the 25th, when Kristi's show and Trohee Eric Bompard air at the same time. I don't understand the point of this. I would think that both networks would lose viewers if skating fans have to choose to watch one or the other.
