Ok, I watched Daisuke skate, don't know if I'm  or  It was techno-bad, but also pretty amazing, LOL!

Apparently not for the Grand Prix circuit. Definitely have to be 15 for Worlds though.

I really liked that program and the music. The man can skate, we can't take that away from him. The costume I could do without, but we've seen worse. *cough*swan weir*cough*

Couldn't stand Takahashi's costume, but the music was interesting and the choreography blew me away. I can't wait to see it on a bigger screen, I was so impressed - Tara Lipinski and Elvis Stojko tried to blend hip-hop and skating (I think I remember a cringe-worthy attempt by Steven Cousins too), and Tanith and Ben tried it with an exhibition, but Takahashi finally made it work. Wow, that was cool.

It's their first senior international - but they're already through to the Junior Grand Prix final! I saw them at the Sheffield JGP last weekend, and they blew everyone away there.
Switching from a junior to a senior program in under a week is pretty impressive as well - I don't know how different the requirements are, but I guess there's a few things they have to change (including an extra 30 seconds on their free).

A one-week changeover? Now, I'm even more impressed with the Russian team.
I should take the kids out to a Halloweenie thing, but I'm shamefully checking SA reports. Bad Mommy!

Glad Dube and Davison came back from last year's injury to do so well. Seemed to me that they played it safe and didn't stretch too much.

Thanks for posting the results!
Took the twins to a fall festival today, so I haven't watched any skating yet.
(Withdrawal has set in.)
While chatting with the Club Activities Director about my winning "Trunk or Treat!" entry (see Patsy's Parlor for a photo), I mentioned that I would have loved to sneak inside the Club and watch the skating on the big-screen TV. She told me to go ahead, it was perfectly all right unless there was an event going on in that room . I think I'm going to be very happy here.

Wow, great placement for Patrick Chan! Was he really that great, or did the rest of the field behind him really falter? (esp. Bradley and Reynolds, both of whom I would've expected to beat Patrick).
I've liked Patrick a lot since I first saw him as a novice, but I didn't think he had quite enough to compete at the top senior level ... yet. But maybe he matured a lot since last season.

I was very impressed by Patrick Chan. I would NEVER have known he was that young - I figured he was at least 18-19. That's without seeing his face up close - his skating is so controlled and mature. He's definitely someone to watch this year.

I looked through the detailed results - they're marking an e for flutzes and lips! What are they deducting for the e though, anyone know? I don't have an up-to-date handbook anymore.
Also, there is a < symbol next to some of the jumps - what does that stand for?

The "e" (wrong takeoff edge) indicates that the judges are supposed to give a -1 GOE. I'm not sure exactly how that works in reality, i.e., if the GOE must be at least -1 or if the GOE must be 1 less than the GOE the judges are giving (for example, +2 for difficult entry, great height, air position and outflow -1 for wrong takeoff edge = +1).
< means the jump was supposed to be a triple but was underrotated by more than 1/4 revolution and was therefore downgraded to a double.
