I just finished my new show program today. I am skating to a really pretty song called, "I Know the Truth," from Aida. Olga also finished choreographing my new short program for the next season since the last time I wrote in here. I am skating to music from the "Princess Diaries" soundtrack.
All programs complete, and now we know all her music selections too. :)
Then I'm back to Detroit for a week before going home for regionals.
No bye for Jenny this year - she's doing regionals.
The rest is about the fun stuffs she's been up to during the summer (hehe - who said skaters don't have a life besides skating?).

Thanks for the link. She is an articulate young lady. I am shocked that she has to compete at regionals.
What are the rules about that?

Why does Jenny have to compete at Regionals?
Seems odd the 4CC's Champ would have to......But the bye is only guaranteed for the top 3 at Nationals last year and if a GP event or something is conflicting......right?

Skaters who finish in the top three at nationals have an automatic bye, and skaters with international assignments within two weeks of the qualifying event also get a bye. Skaters who win sectionals also get a bye through regionals the next year, and some injury byes are handed out to top skaters. Otherwise, they have to qualify--which is the case for Jenny this year.
She'll win easily, of course. Louann Donovan might give her a run for her money if she had to compete, but she has a bye due to a JGP event.
If Jenny does well enough at Skate America, though, she may wind up with a second GP event and a bye through Easterns (which would allow the fifth place skater from New England to advance). We'll see what happens.

Does anyone know if Angela, AP and Beatrisa also have to do this, or if any/all of them have byes?

I posted a list-in-progress of singles byes yesterday at:

As last season's Pacific Coast Sectionals senior champ, Liang has the option of competing or not at Regionals. If she chooses to compete, the top 5 senior ladies from SWP will advance to Coasts.
Question: I thought that a skater does not receive a bye if their international assignment is more than week before or after Regionals and/or Sectionals?

I just finished my new show program today. I am skating to a really pretty song called, "I Know the Truth," from Aida.
Every time I see AIDA, or listen to the recording, I think what a nice program it would make. It's a beautiful song. The character Amneris sings it (hence my SN :) ), my favorite in the show. I'm looking forward to this!
Thanks for the link. I really like Jenny Kirk. She does have things she can work on, but she doesn't get the credit she deserves...she would be national champion in many countries. I was watching her Hershey's exhibition recently and she got more height on her jumps than I had remembered, and also seemed more expressive. Does anyone know if the program ("Over and over again...") had special meaning for her? She seemed moved even before she began skating and the words could be construed to have spiritual significance. I think it was posted that it was a Mandy Moore song...what is it about (if anyone knows)? Thanks and best wishes to Jenny. I'd love to see her at Easterns :D :D :D .
(Actually, it might be good practice for all of the girls listed in this thread to get in an extra sp and lp run-through considering the tight field they'll see at Nationals.)

Well, I guess I'll have to head down to New Englands then, can't pass up the chance to see Jenny skate! :)
Thanks for the heads-up, Adrian!

I won't make it to New Englands, so like kara here's really hoping she ends up doing sectionals. :) Unfortunately I guess that would probably entail placing below AP at Skate America, thus not getting the CofR spot...
