Hi everyone! :D

Ive been lurking for a little while, reading up on all the wealth of information here that I stumbled across while researching different boots - pros and cons etc. I was on the hunt for some new boots after having been in a pair of Grafs that, while a great boot, were not correct sizing! They were 1/2 a size too big plus an M width (equiv to B width) and on top of that I now realise they were too much boot for what I was doing (I bought them about 5 years ago before I stopped skating have children). So discovered that all these problems I was having on the ice were not a problem with my feet, but my boots!

I went with a pair Riedell Silver Stars A/AA and I think I'm in LOVE! LOL! The difference between the 2 pairs of skates can be likened to trying to walk around with 2 cardboard boxes your feet verses ballet slippers! LOL

OK enough about the new love in my life AKA my skates ;) Umm what can I say about me? I live in Australia and started to skate when I was about 4 or 5, skated for a few years, rink closed down + we moved. I then started again when I was about 12, stopped after about a year (travel of 1 hour each way was too much for my mum) then started again when I was about 22??, skated for a few years until I decided to start a family, skated until I was about 4 months pregnant, then was off the ice for about 5 years.. which brings us to now! Recently turned 30! eek! LOL!

I have no idea what level I would be, Ive never tested and at this point don't plan to. I just skate for the love of it! I'm heading off to an adult skate class to begin with, then will look for a coach at some point later in the year.

I have just bought my eldest his first pair of skates, which he cant wait to try out! So we will see if he likes skating, then take it from there.

Hello!

Ive just read back on my OP, and realised that Im pretty much there again now! LOL!

After trying to get back to skating, it all fell through due to lack of child free time/child care options.

Sooo.... here I am again, a few years on, with kids now in school freeing me up to skate regularly again!! :P

Kids have all just started to learn to skate, so they can now come with me on the weekends/school holidays etc...

Finally breaking in those new boots mentioned above. Attending the local coffee club, and looking at privates again soon too.... I think Id like to test to have something to work towards etc..

Been lurking around enjoying reading up on everyones progress, and general skating info. I might even get brave enough to start posting too! LOL!

Welcome Meje! This is definitely the place to be when you're not at the rink. :D
