Sad as I really liked this pair, but I can see why she probably wants to get on with the rest of her life. Best of luck Valerie!

6th at Worlds? Man, that seems like an awful lof of talent to throw away with such a nice climb in the International standings.

I don't see it as "throwing away her talent" but this definitely comes as a surprise. Three years to the Vancouver Olympics is a long time to stay in it if you're ready to move on.

They definitely didn't have their usual spark this season, but I LOVED their free program and their classical spiral sequence, which still earned a level 4!

I will miss seeing them. I was interested to see at the end of the article that Valerie is moving to Columbus, OH to coach. Does anyone know more details on that?

Now, is Valerie the one who got hit in the head by her partner while doing the camel spin?

If not, I have no clue as to who she is. Were she and her partner broadcast in America at Worlds?

Nope, that was Jessica Dubé.

Can't answer that, since I watched the broadcast on CBC. But they finished 6th at worlds, and 5th at the GPF (3rd in the LP), so you might have seen them. Their programs this year were Cherry Pink & Apple Blossom White for the short, and a really fabulous interpretation of L'Amour for their long (great programs, rather ugly costumes IMO).

I found their Worlds performance on youtube:

They, nor their costumes, look familiar to me.

I wish them the best.
