I just tried to look for backups in terms of transportation and found this.
The Greyhound bus is having a NYC sale $15 each way, $30 roundtrip
(no tax) from Port Authority Station to Boston, MASS (http://www.greyhound.com/scripts/en/TicketCenter/esavers.asp)
1. Port Authority, NYC to Boston, MASS ~ bus arrives at South Station.
2. Take MBTA subway: RED line - SOUTH STATION and go one stop to Downtown Crossing and transfer to the ORANGE line and go 3 stops to NORTH STATION
~ Find signs that take you to the Fitcburg/South Acton Line - Commuter Rail
3. From North Station take it to South Acton Station (11 stops)
~ According to the official hotel - Holiday Inn, they have shuttle services that can pick you up from South Acton Station to the hotel. Times for complimetary shuttle service is 7am to 10pm (http://www.mbta.com/schedules_and_maps/)
first link is to the Greyhound Bus NYC fare/schedule information
second link is the MBTA maps/schedule - subway and commuter rail
Hope this helps for any NYC/NJ area competitors who are planning on taking public transportation.
