I'm always looking for interesting off-ice options. I read about quadlines (inline wheels in a quad configuration) on a roller grp maybe a yr or more ago, but did not really think much of it. Then I found this video. I am thinking about outdoor skating for the summer. I picskate and traditional quad skate in addition to ice. I wonder if quadlines would be better outside b/c they won't catch rocks like regular quad wheels. Anybody here w/ an ice background try these?

Want to roll over grass or even hard-packed sand? These look interesting. They have a video of someone skating over grass, and the speedskater Anton is featured also on the site.

Tee hee... I have heard of Richard Humphrey (the guy in the video.) He's a long time roller dance coach (http://www.rollerdance.com/) in San Francisco. (I almost took up roller skating at one time until I realized that my schedule would allow me to take lessons around the time that I was going to take lessons... and right now, my excuse is... I've discovered ice skating!!!  )

It's neat watching the Embaracdero back drop in the beginning of the video. 8-)

Cool as those look, the configuration of the wheels looks like it could really confuse my sense of balance. Anybody tried these?

I agree, and wondered about that myself. I've never seen anyone on a pair of those around here, or I'd stop them to ask about the issue.
