Whatever happened to?????

I'd like to know whatever happened to a male figure skater from Canada who's name escapes me. The last time I saw him skate was around 1997 before he was put in U.S. federal prison for income tax evasion. I really enjoyed watching his skating and think he's one of the greatest. I miss him and have been trying to find out his name and if he is still skating? Thanks

I haven't checked, but you might be able to watch some snippets of his skating on YouTube if there are any up there. I remember watching him on TV when I was a kid--I thought he had some really neat moves!

Gary Beacom had some really funny routines. The one that I remember best was called "I'm Your Man". I wonder if he still skates or coaches or what?

He lives in British Columbia with his wife and family. The article (from IFS) says he's doing skating seminars and performing on tour in Europe from time to time. He DOES have a book on figure skating (Gary Beacom's Vade Mecum) that's available through the PSA store. (He has another book that he wrote while serving time for tax evasion, but I think it's about changing tax laws. )

He also appeared in this year's Holiday Festival on Ice show. He played a grinchy type janitor character doing little segues between all the other numbers, then also did a couple of routines on his own. Classic Beacom stuff, great to see him again.

Did he not have his green card revoked by the US authorities & is no longer able to enter the USA?

Gary Beacom is coaching with his wife in Victoria, B.C, and has been for several years. He occasionally appears in shows.
