Interesting to note that two more designs, besides Jackson/ProFlex, meant to reduce the impact of landing jumps have come on the market or are in the works.

Also interesting to note that U Delaware still doesn't have a good scientific study showing the benefit of the ProFlex boots on-ice. The study they have didn't find a benefit, but they suspect that's because the skaters didn't have enough time to adapt to the boots.

The article quotes someone who believes that even with the new system judges will mark based on appearance and music. Sandra Loosemore has written several articles ( http://www.frogsonice.com/skateweb/articles/beauty-contest.shtml ) attempting to debunk this myth, both for the old and new systems, but I wonder why it's so persistent, and how much truth there is to it. ProFlex makes it really easy to point the toe, I believe, and if anything, that might *help* get legitimate points for extention.
