I just seen on a website that Sasha Cohen is not competing this year!!!! But she will be competing again in 2009 and 2010 Vancouver Olympics! She says that she is still going to skate....obviously, but she's taking a break and didn't give a reason for it! She is one of my favourite American free skaters. Anyone shocked?

Somewhat old news I think. Opinion varies on whether she'll be back or not for 2009 (the competition will be *very tough* even for Sasha as she was in '06 -- so if she wants to medal she'll have to really outdo herself).

We'll just have to wait and see. She says on her website and in interviews that she finds it hard to train these days with her hectic travel schedule doing appearances and such. She's also been doing shows at various rinks (rockerfeller center live with Aguillera is one that was televised and on YouTube), so while I suppose she's not training at Olympic-level intensity, she's by no means off her skates either.

I'm personally a committed inmate at the asylum for Sasha fanatics, :p so I'm a bit tired of the debates going-on about her. Best to wait and see, and to enjoy her show skating in the meantime (she's on the cast list for COI 2007).
