I just found the invoice for my old JW Gold Seals, purchased in November of 1985 from Robert Sorby & Sons.
Two pairs, with shipping from Sheffield, England to New York City: 160GBP (appx. $315US based on today's exchange rates.)

My custom Klingbeils (March 1984) cost $265, tax included.

If only I had a time machine...

When I decided to get back into skating last January and saw good boots were priced in the $350-$550 (Canadian) range and I thought "That's expensive!" My last pair of custom boots cost me about $350 with blades in 1966!

So, in 1966, $350 was 7 weeks wages for me. Today $550 is well less than a week's wage! No complaints here! (Except I wish I could still get boots make like my 1966 boots!)
