I've been wondering about which skaters have made official announcements as to their program choices for the next season and it's too difficult to search for all the threads individually, so I thought I'd start this thread as a place to list all confirmed program choices in one place. Can you guys all help me out by listing them here? Thanks!

Oh btw, on the Russian language skating board, there was an exhibition in a Moscow suburb recently. Denkova/Staviyski debuted their new FD, which has an ancient Egypt theme. And Irina Slutskaya skated to Bond's "Victory", but there wasn't any information about whether it's her SP or just an exhibition program.
Orscher/Lucash's SP is Quidam, LP is Spartacus.

According to an article from the Melfort Journal, Nicole Watt will be using music from The Secret Garden for her SP (seems popular this year!) and music from the movie Dr. Schivago for her FS.
Laura
How would both Jeff Franklin and Fedor pick "Firebird" for their SP?
Is that a common piece of music? Who else has skated to it?

I just read in the new BOI that Silverstein & Forsyth have chose "Carmen" for their free dance. ;)

Firebird is actually used quite a bit - I think this is Feedor's 2nd or 3rd year doing Firebird (just hope he gets a new custume this year last years was a yikky green velvet get up). Also Chantal Poiriier and Ian Moram used Firebird last year (senior pairs). The Chinese Pair Olympic Bronze medalists have use this in the past. Kurt Browning too - This is one of my favourite pieces of music and it works well for skating due to the way it builds.

IIRC, Beatrisa Liang is specifically skating to Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D minor. At least, I think that's what it said in BOI.

Yags just debuted his new SP at his show in Mass. It's called Crazy Benny by the Safri Duo.
Isn't Crazy Benny the same program that Eman used last year.?

Actually, I thought Emanuel used a medely of Safri Duo pieces: A-Gusta, Bongo Song, and Crazy Benny..
Emanuel definitely used that music in a SP. I forget whether it was this or last year...I think it was '01/'02.

Yes, it was the 2002 season, and he did use the three tracks mentioned in an earlier post. Think I heard a rumor somewhere (FSU?) that he was still practicing that program.
And FWIW, he also skated to the Kama Sutra soundtrack, but I don't know which songs--does anyone?

It is a very well known classical piece, although it is not frequently used because it is owned lock stock and barrell by Dorothy Hamill who made it her opening piece of music in her 1974 free skate. All comers since have failed to ignite much fire. It is very fast and it is easy to look silly skating to it. Watson&Oppegard used in 1988 to some good effect.

I don't know about it.. it really depands what they will use. it's really a change of direction from last year's "Sarajevo" which was my favorite dance program last year. I still REALLY look forward to see them. I will probably have to wait until Lalique though, and that's only if i'm lucky.

A lot will depend on how well the music is edited, although they did a good job with Sarajevo.

who is it that's using "funeral for a friend" for their short?? Cuz, I was feeling very individualistic until now, seeing as I've had that as my long for quite awhile. One of my fav. pieces of music. Does anyone know what Sarah is skating to?

Word is that he didn't like the program and asked his coach to return to Gelsomina, which is what he should be using this year.
Boo, hiss! I was looking forward to seeing the new LP at Worlds. I don't think his old LP highlights his flair...I preferred his SP. Please consider giving the new LP at least one try on the GP before ditching it, Mr. Buttle! Best wishes this season:).

kara- you are in luck! Apparently Jeff AGAIN changed his mind and is now back to the Elgar Concerto! It's a different version than he had originally with different choreography, but I'm happy to hear he is giving this a try.

09-20-2002, 06:59 PM
Glad to hear Jeff changed his mind ..... as beautiful as that program is, it probalby wouldn't have the same effect as it did last season. But then again, Jeff can probably skate to anything and get awesome marks.
On another note, Cynthia Phaneuf's short program is actually called "The Promise" .. it IS by Secret Garden, but is not "Songs from a Secret Garden" also by the same band, which is fastly becoming another overused piece of music. :(.

Yay!!! I say this board needs a clapping emoticon. :) I do agree Gelsomina wouldn't have the same impact with the tougher jumps (quad) added. Maybe Thornhill changed his mind?
Now just make the final Skate Canada LP group...please please please since I no longer have CTV!
Between this and seeing that ESPN will repeat some US Nats coverage I don't have, I'm in a very good mood. :)
Tony Wheeler - That certainly worked out well! I make a request and immediately it's granted...thanks for reading my post, Jeff;), lol! I think that does sound like a good choice for him. Hope we get to see it during SC coverage.

Enjoy :)
Finally someone is skating to Elgar's Cello Concerto, hopefully the version with Jacqueline DuPre. I hope he does it justice!! It is the most hauntingly beautiful music, I wanted Michelle Kwan to skate to it but finally someone is. :-) I've never seen this guy skate but now I am going to go out of my way to watch him.

There will be two well-known skaters this year using Malaguena - Weiss and Cohen. Any bet that this will not be the last year that Malaguena will be used by an elite skater ?

SP: The Promise (Secret Garden)

Phaneuf's LP (a wonderful music choice that she interprets beautifully) is called "Quelques jeux interdites," composed by Francois Dompierre, and performed by a Canadian group, Angele Dubeau (violinist) & La Pieta on their album "Berceuses et Jeux interdits."

The Once In A Red Moon album is beautiful - though there are so many really great secret garden tracks no one uses! everyone chooses either "songs from a secret garden" etc... at least Sara Wheat is using my favorite secret garden piece.
big :) on Kelsey's choices of music - can you tell i'm a soundtrack junkie?
and one huge   at L&T's free - not the rock ballad type usually, but i totally LOVE the scorpions (though right now i have no CDs of them at all. never EVER let someone who is working with you in the army to listen to your Scorpions CD because you'll never get it back. UGH!)

"Power 80's rock ballad" sounds very much like a song I heard ages ago on the radio and liked...but I think the group's name was Whitesnake instead? Even if it's not the same piece, hopefully it'll be something similar... :)

As for Lindasay Weber, not very original in her program choices as they are EXACTLY the same as Hughes in the 2000 season.

Deborah OMG! She is going to be gorgeous in AFTERNOON! I can hardly wait!
Thanks for the Angela update! I wish she had something new for the short, but I do love that program. The long should be very dreamy and very "Angela."
I had been hoping for Prokofiev's R&J for her, but knew she wouldn't use it when I heard that Timmy was for his sp. Then I thought about a better choice for her:)...I hereby begin a compaign for next season for something dramatic: either P's R&J, or...*Tosca*:D :D . I think that would be fantastic.
