Seriously....he's been in practially *every* skating special this season. And usually the first up to skate.

I don't know about you, but that's almost a guarantee to make me change the channel. (Where's the vomiting smiley when you need it?)

I'm only watching this cheesy Latin on Ice thing to see Philippe, since I haven't seen him in a few years. (I'll probably regret it, but still....he's a sweetie.)

Doesn't he have kids? Maybe they need new shoes? :P

He's been doing Disson Skating shows (Hilton Gymnastics & Figure Skating Show, for example.) Isn't his agent Steve Disson? Kind of makes sense that he'd get some jobs out of the deal.

Doesn't he have kids? Maybe they need new shoes? :POr new skates, LOL!

I like Mike (maybe because I skate at Fairfax?).

And hey, he landed 6 triples--including 3lutz and 3flip--in his opening number!

Candeloro is unwatchable in my book ...

I like Mike (maybe because I skate at Fairfax?).I like Mike too - his jump entrances are getting less stiff and rehearsed. Maybe it's part of show skating - no judges to critique edge rollovers, etc.

I liked Mike! I honestly think that he was the best All-Around male American skater since Brian Boitano!

Yeah, he did not medal at the Olympics, how many folks do, but I think he rocks!

Plus, check out his Journal on his site. Lots of pics, particularly of all the skaters kids:

I was a bit disappointed to see him at first on the first couple of shows, but I am finding that I don't dislike him as much as I used to. Not that I think he is the most creative of skaters, but the professional world seems to give him more variety and he also seems a little less cocky now that he is not competing anymore.

Still not my favorite skater, but I can deal with him.

As for the Latin show, I was completely bored. Was glad to see Phillipe even though I wish he would have grown up and given up the taking the shirt off thing. I guess I just didn't find the cast as good as some of the others.

I have to say, that the Michael Bolton one was one of the best this year, and I didn't expect to like it much at all.

I guess I still think Mike is too cocky, and I'm not a fan of all the 'manliness' in the routines. (Plus all the two-footed landings still get on my nerves.)

That said, I'm not a fan of Philippe's shirt-removal either. I only met him a few years ago, and was completely surprised at how sweet and genuine he is off the ice.

I guess I just prefer skating routines like Brian's, that display originality, and good, precise edging skill. It seems to me that Mike tends to go for the flash over substance, and that annoys me. (So does Philippe, for that matter, so maybe I'll stick to him off the ice, LOL!)

I'm getting tired of seeing Steven Cousins, year after year, special after special.

I watched a Nancy Kerrigan skating forum the other night. She and Mark Lund made some statements about how the ISU's amateur $$ prizes are keeping skaters in the amateur ranks, which is decimating the professional skating world. There have been, at least in Ladies, a parade of promising amateur skaters who left amateur skating to pursue other interests without "turning pro."

I guess Steven Cousins and Michael Weiss are in demand and the supply of other pro skaters is limited. That's why we're seeing them more often.

I know Scott Hamilton had cancer surgery; is he retired from performing?
I think this is Brian Orser's last season with Stars on Ice, he's retiring to coach.
Kurt Browning's name is coming up often now for choreography, maybe that's his forte'. (No complaints from me, even though I love to see him skate.)

He he, I'm tired of Cousins also. It was painful seeing him try to act sexy to a Chris Isaak tune at the recent Fashion on Ice show. It's unfortunate that more talented skaters like Peter Barna, the French skater that did 3l-3l, etc. don't get pro job opportunities while a 3rd rate talent like Steven Cousin seems to get pro gigs left and right.

Mike's ok as a pro. He's till doing safe numbers right now. Maybe he'll branch out. I wish he would stop doing the stupid spread-eagle on heels. He has that freedom blade for several years now and that's the only trick it's capable of doing?

Steven Cousins is best friends with Scott Hamilton. He is one of the "cool" kids. He aint going nowhere.
