Ok I was reading how the judges judge the ice dancing competitions and what the rules for judging are and I noticed that they say the Grade of Execution (GOE) given by the judges is averaged then rounded to 2 decimal places.....yet they don not round it properly.

For example if the calculated GOE is 0.788988..., they round it to 0.70 ! This is not what I learned in school about rounding to 2 decimal palces...the correct score should be 0.79 ....do they follow some other rounding rules here? because this is odd.

If they mention in their rules that they are rounding to 2 decimal places, shouldn't they do it? Because in my opinion there is a huge difference.

For example if you get 0.788 and another skater got 0.701 rounding to 2 decimal palces would give 0.79 and 0.70 respectively. but both by the ISU way of rounding both skaters would get 7.0!

Am I missing something here? Can anyone shead any light to this?
