From the Asheville (NC) Citizen-Times (http://citizen-times.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=200661115124):In parts of Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana, tornadoes and devastating winds overturned mobile homes, knocked down power lines and uprooted trees.

Wind turned a skating rink in Montgomery, Ala., into a hulk of twisted metal soon after the 31 preschoolers and four adults inside had fled to the only part of the building that turned out to be safe.

One child suffered a broken bone and another a cut to the head, but everyone else emerged unharmed from the crumpled wreck of the Fun Zone Skate Center (http://www.funzoneskatecenter.com/site/), which doubled as a day-care facility.

Authorities were unsure whether it was a tornado that hit the skate center about 10:15 a.m.

DBNY and I were teaching at an indoor NYC rink tonight and she said it was like "a monsoon" outside. After hearing this story on the news, I thought about how many times the weather gets nasty but we typically don't give it a second thought at indoor rinks.
