NBC and the NHL are probably hoping for Austria. The time difference for Russia and Korea would be brutal.

A friend who lives in Sochi says they really can't afford it, and have many problems in the city. She hopes they don't get it.

I think Austria is a good choice, but I haven't seen any PR from the three cities in the mix.

A couple of oddsmaking sites (GamesBids.com and AroundTheRings.com) both listed Salzburg as their front runners before the announcement was made. The evaluation report from the IOC itself states that Salzburg is their frontrunner.

South Korea is definetly trying hard in the region. They have had activities which Singapore was invited to. Havent heard anything other than that.
