Kathy - if you are planning to take pictures, the best place is probably to stand at the top railings - I suspect you'll have to contend with hockey boards, and quite a few seats are blocked by more railings below. That's how it was the last time I was at the arena - not the best viewing angles unfortunately, but good if you're up to standing (or seat by the aisle near the top railing and you can go up there to take pixs).

Adrian the last time we went the didn't have boards up. The only place I have been to that the don't bother to take the boards down is the Harvard show. I think if the are going to have skating then boards should come down. I did get good Pix at Harvcard despite boards though.

I have the opportunity to go, but I'm not sure of my plans for that weekend just yet. However, if I do manage to make it up there, I'll definitely write a review.

Thank you, skatekitty and Trillian! I'm in desperate need of specifics about B&S, Angela, and Yagudin:0)...new programs, moves, costumes, looks, etc.:). Have a great time.

I wasn't able to go, guys, sorry. :( I'd be interested in reviews too--I'm actually more curious about some of the local skaters who performed.

Sorry, I was to busy snapping pix to get any great review.
Most of the local talent were cute but the only stand out was a Korean girl names Amy. She had the most complete program. Also a young Russian American had great jumps and spins but was in great need of choreography.
B&S is who we went to see and they were great. They did their exhibition Chaplin and Meditation. Elena was on last night. All her throws were landed perfect with great run out on the landings. She did throw 3loops. Their sbs3tl were also picture perfects.
Alexi had one bobbled landing but pulled it off. Not sure if it was 2 footed. He was great too.
All the stars were nice to all the local kids after, staying out for pixs with the famlilies of the kids.
I also had a long talk with Y. Platov. He is very nice. He talked about coaching and the Russian fall out post Olys. This is the third time I had talked with him and I have to say he is one of the nicest skaters I have ever met.
I wish the anouncer had written the Russian names out phonetically. She was just mangelling the names. Hey I'm dyslexic so my spelling can be poor at times but she really made no effort. I have alot of foriegn patients and I always ask how to pornounce before I kill a name. I then write phonetically on chart soi the girls will pronounce them right. I find this so discourteous to make no effort.

That would be Amy Bobrick, last year's regional champion at the junior level. She missed Easterns because she needed surgery (on her shoulder, I think?), or she'd have probably made nationals without too much trouble. She'll be back in juniors again this year.

Hmm...Julia Vlassov, perhaps? If that's who it was, she was third or fourth in New England at the juvenile level last year and will be competing at that level again this year. Otherwise, you're not thinking of Andrei Griazev, are you? He actually is Russian.

I believe it was Andrei Griuzev. He was really amazing. He seems to need a little work on controlling his adrenalin - the first jump was so high the audience gasped, but he couldn't hold on to the landing. Later on in the program he seemed to be tiring. He's definitely one to watch though.

It's worth mentioning that Alexei Yagudin was really outstanding. The first program he skated appeared to be his new short program. Not as outstanding as Winter, but still a good program with lots of great footwork. His second program was a portion of his Olympic Long Program. This came directly after Elena and Anton skated Meditation.

What a line up for a local show!!

I also attended the show with my sister and a friend and we all loved it!
I didn't take notes so have no specifics, but we were very impressed with Amy Bobrick. We were also impressed with Nicholas Santillo. :D

They announced that Angela Nikodinov couldn't attend the show because she had been injured in practice on Thursday. :(

I went especially to see Elena & Anton and we were totally overwhelmed by the beauty and magic of their two routines, The Kid and Meditation. They received standing ovations both times.

I also wanted to see the ice dancers and they were all very impressive. Chait & Sakhnovsky skated twice, first to "Unforgettable" and then to something I'm sure I've seen but don't know what it is called, but they wear black outfits and Galit has a bare midrift. They were fast and charming in both programs. Usova & Platov did a dramatic Carmen, but well, do I have to ever see another Carmen?? I was not familiar with Grushina & Goncharov except by name, but was impressed with their performance.

This show is great fun and it is very warm and friendly to be there with all the folks who have friends and family performing in the show. When it comes around next year, if you get the chance, go!

Hi BlueRidge and SkateJoy.
I was sitting close to were the skaters came out on the side furthest from the door. We were yelling so loud that Anton waved to use. After these Korean girls came up to me asking me to yell to get the skaters attention because they said "You are a really loud person." I thought it a funny complement.
We had a great time and hooked up with a few people from FSU.
Mary is going to try to post later with a better review if she has time at work.
I am really glad that Sakhnovsky cut that greasy rats tail. His new do is a great improvement. I loved that he was singing to Galit the whole time. We talk with Y.Platov after for a while and Mary was telling him that Galits skates are much quiter this year. He was laughing imitating scratchy skates. He is the nicest guy. We only briefly got to talk with Anton. He was pretty tired by that time. All in all it was a great time.
Oh yah we also had alot of fun with Surya. She and Mary were commiserating their inability to do spread eagles. I missed them trying to, damn that digital camera.
I will send my pix to Traci's web site for B&S. She always posts them for me. So when she puts them up I will give a link.

thanks for all the reports peeps, it sounds like it was a wonderful program! I'm glad the audience was receptive to the skaters. it must have been an awesome experience for the 'unknown' skaters to skate with some of the biggest names in FS :)

Cheers, Orable
