Kurt Browning in Skating With Celebrities Finale

I've started a separate thread for this, because his appearance was so brief, but so absolutely amazing. Did no one else notice Kurt's little bit of straight line incredibly fast footwork? Although DH and I rewound and watched five or six times, we are still not sure what was going on with those feet! It looked to me like the leading foot was simply stepping on and off the ice facing forward, while the back foot (held close to the leading foot) was doing half turns and back. I have never seen anything like this before, and it wowed me every bit as much as Yagudin's footwork in his Olympic SP, Winter. Unfortunately, this little gem is buried in the middle of the last hour of SWC. I'm going to have to copy it to another tape and keep it.

My technical analysis, assuming I am right about what I saw:

When the trailing foot takes the ice at a right angle to the direction of travel, Kurt quickly shifts his weight to the leading foot, which is in line with the direction of travel, and pointing forward. Weight then shifts back to the trailing foot, which has now returned to being in with the direction of travel and pointing backward. If he were to miss shifting weight to the lead foot pretty much instantly, he would do a face plant as the trailing foot caught the edge perpendicular to the direction of travel. Some trick! I won't be trying it in this life.
