I recently injured my hip, on monday it will be week. I think this is because I have been doing loops over and over again, could this have caused it?
I dont remember exactly what caused the injury. All I know, is that putting wait on it, and of course doing loops aggrivates it.
My mother thinks it may be a joint injury. Anyone hae any ideas on what I should do to help it heal faster??
I've been trying different pain medication, but nothing seems to help, plus I have a sensitive stomach:roll: :frus:
Also to make things worse I have a competition in a month!!8O

Best advice? See a doctor. It could be something like a stress fracture, in which case you shouldn't put any weight on it. The doctor could take x-rays and maybe see something wrong, maybe a malalignment or something and give you some excercises to do. Sorry this isn't much help besides the obvious, but any time something is bothering you, I think it's better to see a doctor than risk permanent injury.
Next best advice: Post your message on the forum for figure skaters where you will get a lot more hits: On Ice - Skaters (http://www.skatingforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=16)

I think that especially with all the talk of elite athletes being injured lately, a lot of people are getting paranoid. Unless you weigh 600 pounds and are doing 60 loop jumps in a row, it's VERY unlikely that you would injure yourself doing single loop jumps. They're not very hard on the body- I mean you are only 17, I doubt your body is falling apart already. My guess? You did a lot of loop jumps, your muscles are tired, so they are sore. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Lay off for a couple of days and work on other skills, while making sure to stretch everyday and do some strength training to make those muscles strong!
If it still hurts 2 weeks later, THEN go to the doctor. Skating isn't natural for the body, something will always hurt somewhere. It doesn't mean it's an injury, and it doesn't mean you have to worry about every little pull or sore. Just take care of your body and learn what is tolerable pain and what is not.
