Fred (the webmaster) emailed the regular posters for whom he had addresses to advise us of the situation. A board or group of some sort for "Barb's Bunch" might be developed elsewhere if there is sufficient support within the group.

Thanks for the info. I went to the site several times recently and it was gone. I will miss that site. Always counted on it for low key, informative talk. It will be missed.

I certainly didn't hear anything, but I just posted there once in a while. I don't understand these forums that you go one day and can't go on it. One day it's there, and then it doesn't exist. Why couldn't they have announced it on the Board in advance? I don't quite understand that. I've been checking it regularly and dídn't see anything. Well, if something else starts up, I would appreciate someone posting the link for the new Board. Thanks for the info. :cry:

I'm not certain but I believe that the board went down so unexpectedly because of some problems with the service provider. There certainly have been such problems in the past as well as with the software that was being used.

Barb has been extremely generous to go on providing this board for so long and, at her request, Fred has worked hard to keep the trolls from taking over. We know that Barb has moved on to other things and rarely had time to visit the board herself anymore. I, for one, am grateful that she continued to support it as a place for her "bunch" to meet and chat.

There is some good news - Fred has acquired some space for a "Barb's Bunch" board elsewhere. He has received an updated copy of the software that was being used on Barb's site and has been doing some testing and fine-tuning. I think he may also be able to move some of the old messages over. Once it is ready for action, he will let us know :)

The board was using space lent to Barb, and that made it very difficult to moderate. That's why Fred has set up a board elsewhere.
