It's here!!

(well, in Canada, anyway...)

Starting WEDNESDAY, January 18th and 9pm on FOX. There's information on it in the "Shows" categorie at http://www.fox.com

I'm so excited for this show. I think everyone that's outside the skating community will learn how much effort, skill, strength, endurance, and finesse is required for the sport.

Anybody know when the British version airs?

At our rink, it's a case of "And today's celebrity skater is....." since we seem to have a different one each day! At least we don't have the intrusive BBC cameras (and doughnuts!) that we had last year, when we only had one "celebrity", who I'd never heard of, training.

I heard it was February, but since the adverts have started I'm beginning to think it's sooner.

Sean Wilson from Coronation street and another ex corrie star who played Judy Mallet are training at my rink. Daniel Whiston (http://www.daniel-whiston.tk), who featured the boxing day edition of "strictly ice dancing" is one of the professional skaters.

A few weeks ago while at the rink I was stood about a meter away from Christopher Dean and when I realised I nearly died, I must have looked insane!!!

There's a cutting from the Daily Mail with some pictures about Torvill and Dean's involvement in Stars On Ice.

So did Britain air this show last year? It seems the American networks steal all their best reality show ideas from the UK!

We had a boxing day special which lasted an hour, but the same prinicpal idea. Now it's being made into an ongoing weekly thing, must like 'Strictly come dancing'.

Apparently it's starting next week according to an advert.

And it's called 'dancing on ice'

Skaters from our club are going to the studios to see it being filmed and that's some time this month. I'm not sure when it will actually be shown though.

So which celebrities have been working hard then Annabel?

Yeah, i would like to know which celebs are in this, and also if it is just going to be a bunch of skating "tricks" and not much on the classic edgework training. I'd also like to know who was brave or crazy enough to sign up for it, because you know how T.V. is -- the more dangerous and tv worthy, the better, so i know it will be probably very dangerous.

The only ones that I'm aware of are

Sean Wilson
Gaynor Faye and
Kelly Holmes

I posted about it on Non-Skating. I can't remember them all but there's David Seaman (who was rather good if I remember from that crappy pilot that they did a while ago) and he's the only one that I can remember

I have a feeling we've got two different shows going on here - there's the Torvill & Dean thing, that was supposed to happen last year and didn't - that's the one on ITV 1 starting (next week? I'll have to find out), then there's the BBC 1 thing on the lines of Strictly Come Dancing (Stars on Ice to the Americans). Which is the one I think people have been training for here.

I never know who people are and always have to be told, but so far we've had Bonnie Langford, "That man off Dr Who" (not sure if they mean David Tennant or Christopher Ecclestone) and I think they said it was David Seaman who kept getting in my way yesterday (not sure - if it was, he's cut his hair!). And one or two others who I didn't find out who they were.

Mostly this year they seem to have chosen people who can skate, at least a bit.

Interesting. So is there another BBC show as well as the ITV one? It's the ITV "Dancing on Ice" show that I'm going to see being recorded.

Is David Seaman doing Dancing on Ice? If I remember rightly he participated in the boxing day edition last year and won! 'Strictly Ice Dancing' was shown on BBC last year.

The ITV 'Dancing On Ice' is the one featuring Torvill and Dean, and airs on the 14th I believe.

Does anyone know who the pro's are? I only know of Daniel Whiston from Hot Ice.

On the basis we're booked into the studio on the 28th, I guess it's a series (the ITV Dancing on Ice one!). I'm really looking forward to it!
