Kurt Browning will be inducted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame at Worlds this year in Calgary.

story here (http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/FigureSkating/2005/12/07/1343063-cp.html)

I can't think of anyone more deserving (who isn't already there, of course ;) ).

I guess I'm slightly surprised that it took this long (if it did take long?). If you asked me who should be in that Hall of Fame, Kurt would be one of the first skaters I'd think of. My favorite program was his Romeo & Juliet. Or maybe Brick House, SO much fun. Anybody know much about the criteria, when it started, who got in in the first few years?

Isn't this honor based on a skater's eligible career? Four World championships and the first quad toe loop sound like enough to get into a Hall of Fame to me!

I'm not 100% sure but I think they tend to bestow this honour a loooong time after the skater was eligible. Sorta like the "lifetime achievement" awards they give at the Oscars when the actor is old and grey. ;)

Or old and bald  Anyways, it's a great honor for a great guy!

I wonder if there's a specific number of years they wait to induct someone, sort of like the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame (something like 20 or 25 years)....

I had forgotten what he looked like with hair! (I think he looks better without hair!)
