According to an article in today's Ottawa Citizen, Eric Gillies will
become head coach and technical director of the Nepean Skating Club
(in Ottawa) on September 1st.
Some of you may recognize the name - among other achievements Eric
coached Isabelle Brasseur and Lloyd Eisler to several skating titles
including a Worlds gold (1993); and Shae-Lynn Bourne & Victor Kraatz
to 2 national titles.
He replaces Sergei Tchetveroukhin, the 1972 Olympic men's singles
silver medallist (from the then USSR)who was at Nepean for several
years. I believe Sergei has moved to the Toronto area but this is
not mentioned in the article.
BTW Eric & his partner Susan Carscallen competed in the first Olympic ice dance event (1976), placing 13th. Their highest placement at Worlds was 6th (1977).
