Just froze to death at the Rinks at Exeter, for 6 1/2 hours... (insert chilly smilie here)
The only way I managed to stay warm was by the kindness of two perfect strangers who sat beside me. Novice skater Kathleen O'Connell's mom even shared her blanket with me! :D
I didn't take notes on novice ladies, as I chatted with Kathleen's mom most of the time... But congratulations to Kathleen for her comeback - you have guts girl!
I don't think any of our novice ladies landed a clean triple, but I might be wrong - a lot of nice double axels, weak spirals, and not much else.
Junior ladies - we had a few landing triples - sal and toes, mostly. Sydney Rooney had a gorgeous, high 2 axel. Kylie Gleason - huge 2a/2t, and two triples landed? Jessica Houston - 3s/1t, maybe a 3loop?, definitely a 3toe.
Senior ladies - no one to write home about! Unless they get lucky, I don't see any of them making it through sectionals. It was a two footed/cheated/doubled/splat fest.
It was nice to see Haley Ellis all grown up (hadn't seen her since she was a little intermediate!) and I give her the prettiest dress award. She had a really hard time with her 2 axels, and I think she two footed her triples. She also had an odd ending to her program. But I think she's a lovely skater!
I didn't realize Sarah Farley was so small! She has a nice, high 2 axel, and fast spirals. She hurries through her spin positions though.
Out of all the programs, I really enjoyed Alexandra Murphy's the most. She had jump problems, but her spiral was wonderful, her spins were beautiful, and she just becomes part of her music.
Brianna Perry was tanned and blonde/black roots. I didn't expect her to look like that after seeing her many years ago! She didn't have a club listed? Nice 2a/2t, 3 sal, nice layback, spins fine, but almost fell over on the final spin.
Kristin Tudisco - 2a/2t, 1-2 triples? Last combo of 3/2/2 (done right at the boards, so I couldn't see her feet for the 2/2 part) looked like the triple was two footed.
