My skates are significantly slower than they were years ago. Now I guess that is pretty normal but is there any way to get them back upto speed again? The wheels aren't rolling as easily as they used to but the wheels themselves aren't worn much. I have spare bearings but I really don't want to use them.

Welcome to the forum, Arclite

You'll find most of us skate on blades, not wheels, myself included.

That said, if roller skates are anything like skateboards, then regular replacement of bearings is a must. My son's wheels get slow and sticky if we don't replace them.

Someone here had posted a link to a roller skating forum once. Anyone know what that was? (Of course, you are still welcome here! :D )

When I used to rollerblade a lot, I would take the wheels apart and clean and grease the bearings--they get full of grit and crud with use. It's been so long now that I don't remember how to do it, though.

Thanks for the replies, I totally missed that most of you were ice skaters
