Okay, so what do you make of this?

Good for Tim.

And, if given a choice between NYC and DC, I'd take NYC.

It's not suprising. I doubt many people were expecting him to stay for the 2010 Olympics. He's been around for a while and is no longer the top U.S. male skater.

Turin will be Tim's 2nd Olympics, if he makes it. His quad salchow is no longer the money jump for him. His 3axel has always been somewhat iffy, and I don't think CoP is necessarily friendly to his style of skating. Plus I'm sure he wants to give his body a break from the constant jumpings and take it "easy" skating and competing professionally and enjoying other aspects of life.

Not surprised, nor will I miss his style of skating. I am curious to see how he will fare at the professional level where there are fewer jumps and more interpretation and personality in the programs and the ability to sell to to the audiance a la Gulindo, Boitano, Hamilton.... Ah ha! that's what is lacking personality - Not to take anything away from quads, just don't like how his arms just hang and his shoulders round.

Poor guy...seems like he's been declining since the 2002 Olympics. I thought for sure he'd make a decent comeback, but I don't think it's gonna happen. :??
