There is a Figure Skating Channel now where they will be airing regionals, sectionals and Nationals. Figure Skating Channel (http://www.thefigureskatingchannel.com/grm)

And the channel plans on broadcasting Adult Nationals! :D

So I can watch from home (although it probably won't be live). 8-)

This rocks!!

In Dallas, I'll be sure to hold up a sign that says, "Hi, NoVa" when I'm on the ice. :P

Nope, not Nationals (Standard Nationals as it were 8-) ) -- Adult and Synchro Nationals.

I think I will take this on a competition by competition basis -- one event for $5 is pretty darn cheap just to try it out.

$99 a year? Yow - another annual figure skating expense. It's a cool use of webcasting - I wonder if they have commentary or just the music feed? (I'd love to switch back-and-forth.)

$99.00 for now, but the $300.00 rate after November 15th...I would have to assume that next year the rate would be at least $300.00

I used a similar (but not skating) webcast subscription service for another sport...I loved it

Hi All,

I've been lurking here for ages. Figured this would be a nice time to pop up...

Someone told me about it several days ago.

In addition to being supported by the USFSA, the figure skating channel does sound like a good business model because it is inclusive of ALL figure skaters of all levels and disciplines.

HAs anybody ordered this? How is the picture quality? A lot of videos I have downloaded on the net are very dark and grainy. Does this have good quality? Can you save them on CD rom?

I'm bumping this up -- did anyone try it yet?

I've tried it: the picture depends on the competition - qualifying rounds are all of quite low quality, competition rounds are better. One of the problems that I noticed was that in some qualifying round clips audio track lags by approx 15-20 seconds. Still, I quite enjoy it. I downloaded several competitions and watch them while on a train.

What's on the audio track? Is there a commentator?

Just music and backround noise (announcements and applause), no commentary.
