The world silver medallist from Smooth Rock Falls, Ont., scored 143.27 points, finishing ahead of Japanese skaters Daisuke Takahashi (133.57) and Nobunari Oda (130.76). American Johnny Weir (112.87) was fourth in the competition, which was held Saturday.

Hmmm, I read somewhere that Weir was landing clean 4-3's "like he could do them in his sleep" in practice. Even that Johnny was landing 4 -3- 3's.
Maybe there is an explanation but I suppose one shouldn't believe everything one reads.

I wonder what happened? ;)

I didn't see anything strange about the post - why the need for the comments? He/she reported about the competition, gave results...seems pretty standard to me.

If the article stated that Johnny was landing these jumps "in his sleep", then it implies that it'd be kind of expected for him to land this in the competition, and thus finish higher than fourth. I see nothing wrong with the poster questioning why this supposed consistency didn't occur, as he/she, like others, would have thought those jumps would have been landed like "in his sleep".

This is a forum for sharing - someone offered some information, and we should be thankful for that. Even if maybe you found the post a little funny/strange, is it possible to keep the remarks to yourselves? Let's make sure everyone stays welcome - after all, that is the point in having a forum for everyone to contribute to.

(sigh!) reminds me of the saying: "if you have to explain a joke..."

having to explain this is most likely an exercise in futility, however...the between the lines comment was that something was dishonest with the judging and placements...we just were not buying that arguement...

were it even remotely so...i can assure you that this board or fsu would have had some critical comments before the zamboni had finished cleaning the ice at the event...
