It seems like everyone is talking about pairs. What about the dancers? Has anyone been watching them?:? :? :? :?

Not much to talk about...highest teams are novice level. Since the USFSA made this comp. a GPF deciding factor for pairs, we're getting some great teams this year.

Novice Dance-FreeDance
1.Gober-Deavers
2. Lazarawitz-Jarmuth
3. Mendoza-Lea
4.Mafazy-Mafazy
5.Lauten-Lauten
6.Weeks-Dettrick
Smooth, solid skate by Gober-Deavers with a polish and level of comfort since they have been Novice for at least 3 seasons.
Lazarawitz-Jarmuth used the James Bond theme to do a fast program with a variety of handholds.
Mendoza-Lea used music by Bond in their smooth freedance that had some nice highlights and lifts.
The presentation/artistry award would have to go to Mafazy-Mafazy who skated a swingy jazzy type program with lots of style and musicality.
Lautens used Lord of the Dance effectively but had some problems with lifts and speed.
Weeks-Dettrick have a cute beginning to On the Town but could pump up the expression a notch or two.
The Indy audience is always knowledgable and enthusiastic about Pairs and Dance. I think the Lake Placid location is too remote and far for the vast majority of skaters, and Indy should be the selection location for Dance as well as Pairs. The Club does a superb job, and the judges are very approachable and helpful and supportive. The central location would make it more affordable than Lake Placid for everyone involved. After all the travel and expenses of Lake Placid I can understand why many dancers skipped INDY this year, since it falls soon after the LP competition, but it makes a lot more sense to promote INDY for dance as well as Pairs.

ITA, NiceIce, that Lake Placid is cost prohibitive for some dance teams. The Indy location and logistics are very good, and the competition is always well run.
