So I got to work with my coach tonight for the first time in two weeks, and it was the first time since last Wednesday that I got in some real ice practice.

I stunk up the joint. Seriously.

Everything I did was totally off. The only exception was that I got my sit spin back, which is a relief. My hips were wonky in my waltz jump, my picking foot was crossing way behind my other leg on taking off for the toe loop and my rotation was too fast, my Salchow was swingy and closed - my loop was um...well...almost non existant - I keep dropping my right shoulder or tensing up too much to have any sort of flow coming out of it, and my flip was fine except I was swinging my free leg out like I was in a tap dance number causing me to over rotate - when I tried fixing this, I was underrotated.

Let's not even get into spins. My one foot spin is fine, but where has my scratch gone?? I used to have a nice, fast, controlled scratch but it's been like a month or so and nothing...just a couple of sad, uncontrolled things that somewhat resemble figure skating.

Gah...I asked my coach for an extra lesson this week and he doesn't have anything at this point - if he has a cancellation he'll let me know.

As much as skating can have its ups it can also have down moments. Now I'm in a funk about the whole thing. Sorry for the vent, but it feels good to share.

You can at least identify your problems

I'm sure it must be frustrating - but people like me are envious of people like you. I'm scared to death to let go of the wall - and of course the rink doesn't have a liquor license either! I almost got up the nerve to join a group class once, but then I saw a man fall on the public ice session and he had to be taken away by an ambulance...

My skater has good days and bad days too. Just when I least expect it, my kid accomplishes something big. It'll happen for you too if you put in the time. :P

I've had less than positive skating days. =-) I'm positive that everyone who skates does. Sounds like your pretty normal. =-) I'm sure next time will be better!

Last Tuesday was my day - my coach was on vacation for 2 weeks and then I went for 1 week, my change foot spin while my coach was gone was awesome! Of course, 2 attempts to show coach were complete disasters, and then the ice was down for the rest of the week. This morning I had 2 fabulous cfs's, so I'm hoping I can pull it off for coach tomorrow.

on bad days....I just focus on nice stoking and posture. On good days....I go for broke!!! (ps-I'm at work watching skating videos  )

There are days that I am not even motivated to jump and/or spin. Believe it or not, I do not even feel like stroking or doing edges on the ice. I am a perfectionist, if I does not feel right, I don't even bother.

When I was taking a lesson 5 months ago, for some reason I cannot do anything right as well. Especially I have gotten used to my practice habbits and a coach tries to tweak things, forget it. It is like learning to skate all over again.

I'm sure you will snap out of your slump. We all do. I was just on it not too long ago (Yesterday  )

I'll laugh if you are a government worker, too!!! (my boss get mad if I get all my work done early-figure that one out!) I'm keeping up the stereotype (it evens out and I make up for it on the call-ups and activations)!
