I see from a Skate Canada newsletter that I received this morning that MK is at Skate Canada. Am I totally out of the loop here? I didn't realize that. Kwan v. Cohen - should be very interesting.

Hughes is also there - but there's nothing on the SC website to say that Michelle will be (and it's usually quite up to date).
What did the newsletter say? Was it perhaps refering to Michelle as a past champion of the event?

Hi Jenny. Try going to www.skatecanada.ca/enews. As I said, it's a Skate Canada newsletter (and it mentions nothing about Sarah Hughes) - only Kwan, Cohen, Siguri, Robinson, Bellemaire. Seems a little weird to me. Anyone else know anything??

Hmm - link doesn't work for me. Not out of the question though.
One wonders about the clout of Hughes vs Kwan in getting the assignments they want - Hughes is of course Olys champ, but also unseeded because she skipped Worlds. Kwan is the bigger draw for ticket sales and the networks, I would think.
I'll be interested to see where the American ladies end up!

Well, if this pans out, this may mean a trip for me to Quebec City. I really believed, after Olympics, that we would not see either Michelle or Irina. It appears I was wrong and I am very happy. They are both amazing and with the likes of Sasha and Sarah, it should be a very good year for Ladies. I just hope we can get through it without too much animosity.

To get the link to work, take off everything after the CA.
They don't list Kwan as of a few moments ago for Skate Canada. Isn't she scheduled to skate in the next pro am, though, and doesn't that mean she HAS to do 2 GP events?
BTW, I love that web site! Its absolutely the best, most informative, and fair web site on skating I've ever seen.

If you go to the Skate Canada website (not Skate Canada per se), but Skate Canada International (as in the GP event), you will see a link to a newsletter called "Above the Crowd". That is where the information about MK being at SC is.
I also checked one of her many fansites - www.heaterw.com/mk (updated today) which has her entered in SA and SC.
It'd be nice to get this confirmed.

this is interesting, but i just checked Heather's site, and it says:
"The only thing that looks definite is that she will not compete in the Grand Prix events, since her name never showed up on the ISU's confirmed list, or on the USFSA's Skate America roster at the beginning of the month."
so i don't know where it says that she has been added to the SA and SC.
here is the link to where i found that quote on Heather's site

I just now checked all the links, the Above the Crowd newsletter, etc. Michelle Kwan is not listed as a competitor in Skate Canada anywhere that I could find. Believe me, if she were competing in SA or SC we would all know about it.

This newsletter was talked about at MKF a few weeks ago. It was decided it was a big error, and perhaps someone at Skate Canada mistakenly looked at last season's competitors rather than this season's.
Loveskating-
Michelle is scheduled for the USFSA Pro-Am, not an ISU Pro-Am. Skaters only have to do the GP to compete in ISU Pro- Ams. I believe Michelle is contractually obligated to do the USFSA pro- ams, so we'll probably see her at all three, no matter what she decides to do otherwise this season. Also, it sounds like maybe the USFSA Pro- Am will only be Am- as in only eligibles competing this time.
