Dates: November 5-6.
Location: Sports Plus in Cincinnati, Ohio.
If it's like last year, it will include beginner events (pre-Pre-Bronze) as well as your standard Adult FS and Compulsory events plus Masters.
The official announcement should be coming out soon.
There will be a testing session in conjunction with the competition, and the rumor is that out-of-club fees will be waived for competitors.
I realize that this is the same weekend as the Halloween competition in PA, and that may pose a conflict. However, hopefully both events can get a good turnout!
(I'm just the messenger, did not have any say in the scheduling--thought I'd pass along the information since there's nothing officially up yet.)

Can anyone tell me which (if either) event has more dance competitors?

IIRC, last year Buckeye had one or two lower level dance events. It's a really nice competition - I enjoyed it last year and plan to be there again this year. Thanks for the heads up, pennybeagle!

Thanks Pennybeagle! I plan to be there............but have no clue if I'll be competing or not. Guess I'd better get my act together.

Well, there will be dance events offered at Buckeye (solo and partnered), but I don't know how many competitors will be there.
What level of dancer are you, and are you looking for solo or partnered dance competitors?

Pennybeagle,
I'm hoping compulsory spins will be divided by age group this year! :D It's the only way I have a prayer.

Oh, you're a great spinner! Pretty much everything will depend on how many entries we get, although silver spins last year was admittedly the largest group of competitors. If we have the same number of entries as last year, I'll see if I can influence the powers that be... ;) No promises, though!

If I skate solo it would be pre-gold, if I skate with a partner (have a tryout next week, yay!), I think it would be gold.

Hmmm....
We didn't have a pre-gold or gold dance event last year at Buckeye; however, if you DID register for a solo event, there's a good chance that we'd be able to find enough competitors for an event, especially if we mix age groups (I don't know what age group you are). There are at least a half-dozen pre-gold/gold dance skaters at Miami University who will have made the adult age requirement of 21 years old, and a couple of other area skaters who are in their 20s who are working on their pre-golds.
Can't make any promises (I'm only a bronze dancer myself), but it would be great to see...pre-gold/gold dance, wow!

Thanks! You never would have known it last year though.

Any news on the announcement yet?

I will talk to the people in charge of this event tomorrow evening. I have no idea what is holding up the posting of the announcement, since it was supposed to be up on the website right after Labor Day.
Oh, and I asked about dividing compulsory events by age group--from what I was told, those decisions are made by the referee of the event, although our club can make recommendations/requests. Those requests are not always met, however. I think we are going to request that compulsory event groups be held by age group even if there are only 2 skaters per group, rather than combine them, and also request that no more than two age groups be combined. But again, it's the referee's call.
