My first memory of ever seeing a 'thrown jump' in pairs skating was the 1979 World Champs when Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner successfully executed one (or was it two?). So I have a couple of observations/questions about thrown jumps.

Were Babilonia and Gardner the first couple to do one?
Were they doing doubles or triples?
They looked to be extremely long.........was that because they were or that it looked spectacular because it was new?
Am I right in saying that Irina Rodnina and her 2 partners never attempted one in competition?
If Babilonia and Gardner weren't the first then who was and when?

I hope someone with a better memory than mine can help!

They were the first pair to complete the throw 3 salchow, but I don't know about the rest of your questions. That was an era before my time.
