Val Belmonte resigns as USFS Executive Director!

Phil Hersh, sportswriter with the Chicago Tribune breaks the news at ChicagoSports.com (http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/international/cs-050502olyskate,1,2018184.story?coll=cs-home-headlines&ctrack=1&cset=true)

Is there anyway the article can be read without registering?

This was posted on USFS's website (it's probably not as juicy as Hersh's):

You got that right, it's just a plain "fluff" piece!
If I could be a delegate, or better yet a fly on the wall this week at the Hyatt Regency in Columbus- (that's where GC is being held this year)!

Hersh' story is only about 2 paragraphs long. It says Belmonte resigned b/che couldn't get along with the board of directors (volunteer members). It also had the old quotes from Chuck Foster saying, when he resigned, that the USFSA was a dysfunctional organization with constant backstabbing and backbiting.

I really, really wish everyone would just shut up and get along, if for nothing else, the love of the sport! Of course this is what I wish for even at the local levels!

And we all thought the Russian Federation was pure evil - funny how much closer to home the reality might be for some. Thing is - shut up and get along - even if that's not in the best interest of the sport?

The article mentions about the upcoming Governing Council and how hotly contested the President spot is being Ron Hershberger and Ron Pfenning. I seriouly hope Pfenning gets the vote - its time the USFSA gets a leader with a spine on his back. :!:

Well, I don't know who stands for what. but if we have more of this SLC type scandal junk, and all this top down corporate sleeze bag control of competitions, you can kiss skating in the USA goodby.

I just hope the USFSA really changes direction from the one its been on since 1998.

Dan Hollander, Chuck DeMore and Dick Button have all endorsed Ron Pfennig.

Well, the COP was adopted, except judges will be named in USFSA comps, and Herschberger was elected, not Pfenning.
