OLYMPIC FIGURE SKATER NANCY KERRIGAN GIVES BIRTH TO SECOND CHILD
BOSTON, April 15, 2005 - - Two-time Olympic medal winning figure skater Nancy Kerrigan and her husband, Jerry Solomon, have announced that she gave birth to their second son yesterday, April 14, 2005.
Brian Solomon weighed seven pounds, nine ounces and measured 21 inches at birth. He has a brother, Matthew, age eight, and a half-brother, Clay, 16. The family lives in Lynnfield, MA.
“I always wanted to be a mom” said Kerrigan, 35. “It is the most rewarding thing in my life, so I could not be happier to be adding to the family. It has not been an easy road but the hard things are often the best things. We are looking forward to a lot of excitement.”
Kerrigan, who was instrumental in helping to raise the level of popularity of figure skating a decade ago, was named an Outstanding Mother of the Year by the National Mother’s Day Council in 2001. She won a Silver Medal in the 1994 Winter Olympics, a Bronze Medal in the 1992 Winter Games and a Gold Medal at the 1993 U.S. Championships.
