Say does anyone know the cast of the Ice Capades this year at the Hartford Civic Center? Also does anyone know what the closest city near me would be that a really big Major televised competition like Worlds would come to? I live in the Hartford Connecticut Area.

Ice Capades. :?: :?: :?:

If you mean Champions on Ice (in Hartford in March) here's the skater list but not all of them perform at every stop.

The skaters currently listed for the Hartford, CT stop of the Champions on Ice tour stop (Saturday, March 26, 2005 at 3:00 pm) are:
Michelle Kwan, Irina Slutskaya, Timothy Goebel, Evgeni Plushenko, Elvis Stojko, Sasha Cohen, Victor Petrenko, Surya Bonaly, Rudy Galindo, Dan Hollander, Irina Grigorian, Vladimir Besedin and Oleksiy Polishchuk, Tatiana Totmyanina and Maxim Marinin, Johnny Weir, Marina Anissina and Gwendal Peizerat, Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto, Jennifer Kirk, Jennifer Kirk, Qing Pang and Jian Tong (pair team from China).

The 1981 World Championships took place in Hartford, CT, but there hasn't been any really big (televised) competition in or near Hartford since then. The closest two I can think of right now were probably 1996 Skate America in Springfield, Mass. and 2001 US Nationals in Boston.

Hartford and Cinnincati are the two cities in contention for the 2006 Skate America but I hope for the sake of all skaters involved that Cinncinati gets it ;) The Hartford Civic Center is an old, outdated facility- I don't even like going to COI there- and the city is kind of a mess with all the construction going on. Granted, a lot of that would be done by the fall 2006 (I hope). I have other concerns that I don't want to go into, but I'm not convinced that Hartford is capable of hosting a major event right now. The people who I think could maybe make that happen aren't interested.

Boston Nationals were awesome. I've heard rumors about Boston bidding for Worlds in 2008 or so, which I think would be really cool. Providence had Nationals in 1995 and Synchro Sectionals last year. Lowell, MA just had Synchro Nationals two weeks ago; that was only about 2 hours from Hartford. New Haven had a couple of cheesefests but their facility is now closed and probably going to be torn down. I think Boston is the closest to Connecticut to have a major event anytime soon, unless Hartford gets Skate America.
