Skate Electric - Skate Aid 1988 - Help

Hello All,

I am hoping that someone can help me out please. I am trying to find out any information about the 1988 Skate Electric St. Ivel, Richmond, Great Britain.

I am writing a book about the Live Aid/Band Aid/Sport Aid events.

One of the key events that took place after Live Aid was Sport Aid.

The event was organized by Bob Geldof for aid to Africa in 1986 and in 1988. As part of Sport Aid many different events took place around the world in support of Sport Aid including Skate Electric.

I know that Rudy Galindo, Kurt Browning, Kristi Yamaguchi, Todd Eldrege and maybe Brasseur & Eisler took part.

Although my limited information has Brasseur & Eisler skating in 1989. I have no knowledge of Skate Electric being held in 1989.

I have a scan of the program but it is not the best. The program has the Sport Aid logo on it.

I am wondering if anyone could help shed some light as to that event and if there are any pictures/programs/information that you may have about that particular event.

Hm. Not sure about the years you are talking about. But - as a fan of Torvill & Dean - I am sure they performed at a Sports Aid gala 1986 in Birmingham. Which for sure has nothing to do with the Skate Electric galas you mentioned. They were basically an annual gala at the Richmond ice rink.

Maybe Sports Aid just was mentioned cause they got some of the outcome of the Richmond gala?
