makes sense to me as Oppergard is our last US pairs Olympic medalist with Jill Watson.

I see some upsides and downsides to this decision. The biggest upside I can see is that Peter can help John with some of the elements from a "male partner" side of things. That could be a big help to the pair.

As for the downside, time will tell.
