YAY FOR STEPHANE!
Also, Euros never seems to be Plush's strongest competition, but he could totally still win it. I really really REALLY hope Stephane medals this time. I love him soooo much and was crushed that he got 4th at worlds last year. He should have been 3rd at LEAST. I've never been big on yagbert's skating and probably never will be if he continues poorly emulating Alexei.

I like Stephane, too -- gave him high marks on the "hottest skater" poll on another thread...
I noticed that under COP that Joubert is only very slightly ahead of Plushenko, so yes, Plushy could still win, but it's great to see the others really pushing him.
Looking forward very much to Worlds this year...

I can't for the life of me picture Andrei Griazev ...
Cute little blonde boy coached by Tarasova as a Yagudin replacement. He was about 12th at worlds last year. Junior world champion 2004 as well.
I found a fan page for him here.

The thing about Lambiel is, his first jumo was a single axel, but everything after that was perfect. If he had landed the triple he would probably lead.
Plushenko did quad-triple with a step out in the middle. I think that under the rules of CoP this means the triple didn't count? (correct me if I'm wrong.)

Stephane finished 3rd, his highest finish ever at European's.
His highest finish at World's was last year where he also finished third.

I think they meant Stephane Lambiel. I know I did. We distinguish Lambiel from Stefan Lindemann by the spelling.
