Two other new pairings in junior dance in Canada ... both are listed to skate at COS Summer skate.

Mylene Girard is now paired up with Bradley Yaeger. It's too bad Yaeger split with his old partner, Sabrina Granata, with whom he won the bronze at Canadians this past year. Granata was a gorgeous skater. i was looking forward to seeing them develop and become a real powerhouse.

Andrew Wernham is now paired with Stephanie Destrempes from Quebec and are in Srl Dance.

Yeah, I had heard about them before but the fact that they're on the Thornhill list confirms it.

Anyone else think that Mylene and Bradley should be SENIOR???

Is Sabrina looking for a new partner? Has Mylene competed previously, and what kind of record did she have with previous partner? As long as Bradley and Mylene are age-eligible, might as well get their feet wet in Junior first.

She won Canadian Junior Dance last year with another partner. She is a strong skater but is short compared to Bradley. They will likely do very well in the Junior level maybe even win but I thought it would make more sense for them to skate senior like Lauren Flynn / Leif Gislason. I think Bradley had two or three years left to skate in Junior but now with Mylene, who is a little older, they will have to move up next year no matter what.

I've gotten to see Mylene and Bradley work on their FD. They look pretty good together (the size difference didn't seem to make them look too discordant) and very strong for a junior team. I don't know why they stayed junior (why didn't they have to move up if she's already Canadian champion? I thought there was some sort of rule about having to move up if you win Canadians...). Maybe they felt they'd have an easier time moving up in seniors if they'd already skated a year together in juniors? It can't just be avoiding the pressure of senior competition because I'd think they would have more to lose in juniors where they are expected to place extremely well...

I heard they had left Detroit, and were back in Canada. Any idea where they plan to train this summer?

Although Mylene is Canadian Champion, she is allowed to stay Junior because she's with a different partner. (which is pretty dumb if you ask me, especially since Bradley was 3rd!) If she was still skating with Brian, they would have had to go Senior.

Actually I believe that she is allowed to stay Junior because she is still age eligible - if she had stayed with her previous partner they would have had to skate Senior - not because they won Junior but because he was no longer age eligible. I stand to be corrected but when the rules changed last year - every Junior Skater had to be age eligible as per ISU junior guidelines. Previously if you won or had skated three times at the Junior level at Canadians you had to move up - ie. I believe this was Mylene's partners fourth time skating Junior at Canadians and he could do this because he had not reached his 21st birthday by July 1, 2001.
