I've always wondered about this: if someone is competing at nationals & wants to go watch some other event (like Angela being at the Mens'), do they have to buy tickets like everyone else? Or does being a competitor give them a pass to see the whole thing?
Or like the novice & junior skaters--can they stay & watch the seniors?

no they do not. There is usually an area set aside for skaters up near the top. However, parents and family have to buy tickets

Actually, each competitor gets to name a chaperone, who is given a chaperone pass that gets them into all events and practices. There is a section designated for skaters and chaperones, but if all seats are not sold (and in recent years, most events were not sold out), then they can move down to empty seats.

Do they only get one chaperone? At regionals we got two...

Yes, they get one chaperone pass (for free). Likewise, each skater gets one coach credential for free. Dance and pair teams also get only one coach credential for free. You can but additional coach credentials for $160; I believe it is the same for additional chaperone passes but am not positive about that.

In the past the designated chaperone area has been at the "top" of the arena. During the ladies FS there was no moving down.
