Does anyone think Jenny Kirk will ever get beyond her current level in skating?
I always hope she will do well, but like Angela N, she seems to lack in consistency. And when she does do well, she seems to be lacking some of the technical difficulty of the other skaters.
For someone that did so well in the junior ranks, she seems to be having trouble moving to the top in seniors.
What seems to be holding her back, and what would she need to do to be one of the best in the world?

I think Jenny is a perfect example of someone who peaked too early. You know, people always say "well she didn't place well in Juvenile, so she's never gonna get anywhere" and then people correct these folks by saying "actually it's better that way", well Jenny was REALLY good when she was really young- I know, we both trained at the same rink when we were younger, she was AMAZING, her jumps, her spins, everything was great. And now I see her on tv and she's so blah, even her jumps don't have the spring they used to have. Honestly to me, and I don't know what's going on inside her head, but it doesn't look like she's happy skating. It looks like maybe she's out there to win for the memory of her mother, who, while not being a skating mom, really liked Jenny skating. So, I don't know, but I think if it hadn't been for her mother wishing for her to be a champion, she might have quit by now, and as much as that may motivate her, that alone can't make her progress, she has to want it for herself.

Jenny is rather tall. I saw all the skaters at the gate at Campbells a season ago, and I was surprised at how tall Jenny is.
Unfortunately, according to the laws of physics, once a female skater is past the 5 feet 5 inches mark, the 3 jumps are not going to be that consistent.

but isnt Carolina Kostner 5 feet 6 inches or something??? she can do triple triples and her jumps are mostly consistant. she placed 5th at worlds too.

Jenny's 5'4, I do believe. She's not tall at ALL.

I don't think it has anything to do with height, either. I do think it is more of a lack of motivation as suggested above by fadedstardust. Because you can tell she has the ability, but just does not seem to pull it all together.
