 for Tim's back problems, but :D for Lysacek's participation. I have not seen him skate in person yet either (like Johnny Weir). I can't wait!

sad for Tim as it seems the problems he thought he over came are still bothering him but Evan can be quite exciting to watch. And it is a good opportunity for him to get some experience.

To bad Kraft Foods doesn't sponsor this event, at least then they could advertise this event for what it is, strictly a cheesefest. With 50% of the field American, rounded out by a few international competitors who really are there only for the prize money, I find it amusing that anyone takes this competition seriously. Guess its good for the skaters, what other competitions do you get guaranteed price money just for showing up?

This year the USFSA has done away with the fat appearance fees for these cheesefests. Now the skaters only get a little bit to cover expenses on top of the announced prize money. They hardly get anything if they just "show up".

It's really no different from the GP, except for the lack of a tech program. It's still just a limited number of invited skaters, a bit of prize money, and a tv broadcast (think $$$).
