Johnny Weir. Better conections, better flow, less posing.

Depends on what your tastes are. Personally, I like Weir better, but there is no denying that Sandhu has edging to die for, and a certain flair missing in a lot of other skaters.

Definately Sandhu.

Sandhu is a better skater in terms of natural talent and skating qualities.

Weir is far and away a better athlete and competitor, though. And generally I prefer his style over Eman's, but that's completely subjective.

after watching them both, I'd give the edge to Weir, only slightly. What a delightful repast these two have been from the Plushenko years.

emanuel.. even though he isn't consistant in competions, he has very complex programs every year! I wouldn't even put johnny weir in the same catergory.

I would say Weir for now. Sandhu has the talent but is just not very consistent--so for me he does not sell his programs well. Even though I know he does a lot of things well in his programs, those falls on his jumps always distract me from his program.

Weir hasn't been in the limelight long, but he has had some really good performances starting with his win at nationals last year. I loved his performance at the NHK Trophy--very impressed.

They are both breathtaking skaters, and when they are both "on", it's pretty hard to call. I personally like Johnny's style slightly better (but that is completely subjective), but I would give Emanuel the edge for landing those quad jumps. Having said that, Johnny is much more consistent, so if I had to factor that in, I'd give Johnny the vote. Gee, see how hard this is? ;)

I love them both but 'skating' wise I think its SANDHU. Hes not consistant but his lines and edges are to DIE for

this will surprise a lot of people...but...i cast my vote for sandhu...

when he has a good day...he's simply unbeatable...

i don't like his style...i don't like him...i don't like his coach...but i have to give credit where it's due...and the man does have the ability to be awsome...

ITA. But how often does he have a good day? I am blown away by Eman's skating in a way that I haven't been with any other skater, male or female. If he could only get his act together for the big competitions.....but he does seem like a bit of a headcase.

I enjoy Johnny's skating too. I hear that he has a practice quad, which might make things interesting in 2006.

How is this even a thread? Obviously Sandhu is the better skater, now the better competitor that would still be a no brainer it's Weir. Sandhu has far superior quality to his skating then Weir, but until he learns to be a consitent skater he will always remain a threat to win but doubtfut. Weir has proven that he can skate well time and time again.

Sandhu. It's easy for Johnny to be consistent when he's not trying the "Hard stuff" ie quads. I'm sure Sandhu would be as consistent as Johnny if he didn't have to worry about landing the big jumps (yes he misses or downgrades the others sometimes, but then so does Johnny). When Johnny can have a clean program with a quad or two he'll reach Sandhu's level. Presentationwise I'd say Eman has the edge as well- he moves like a dancer. Johnny is good, no doubt, but not there yet.

when Eman is on....no one can beat him. Weir is great.....but if both were on the same day.....Eman would win. Also if Buttle was in the mix...and they all had a day where they were all on.....id say....Eman, Buttle, Weir

Sandhu. Weir has no quad. Sandhu is inconsistent but when he is "on" he can skate circles around little Johnny. Please!

Johnney has better accelleration than Sandhu, has mastered that skill..he really has great flow over the ice. Johnney has far better jump technique overall, and when he masters the quad, it will be great, IMHO.

I think Sandhu would have made a very great ice dancer...for me, he poses or dances too much but not on edges, with flow. He can be really brilliant, and its worth the wait to see that.

I personally prefer Johnney's kind of skating but I enjoy Sandhu very much.

Well, I think Sandhu CAN edge as good and skate as fast any other male skater in the world today (you just need to see him in practice), but apparently he, for some reason, has decided not to show us most of the time. And his footwork just "floats" across the ice, with such natural sharpness and rhythm. But when he's on the competitive ice and gets nervous, he also gets very slow. I hope he changes that soon.

Even though I think he's a bit of a diva and his inconsistency is maddening, Emanuel is by far the best skater in the world right now. He's proven that he can do the big tricks and do them well, but what sets him apart from everyone else is his breathtaking fluidity on the ice and his musicality, not to mention his edge quality. He even falls with stunning grace. He is beauty personified. Sorry I don't mean to gush, but I really love this guy.

I have always felt that Sandhu and Honda, if they skated clean, would be absolutely untouchable.
We saw that at SLC. Honda was 2nd after the SP.
But I guess we could say "if they were clean" about a lot of skaters.
If Sasha Cohen were clean, especially with the CoP, I honestly think she would be untouchable.
But, Sandhu, Honda and Cohen, this late in the game, are not likely to become 100% consistant. The odds are against them.
So fantastic artists like Plushy and Weir and powerful skaters like Slutskaya will continue to win.
So to answer the question, I prefer and get more excited about Weir, but see the truly amazing potential in Sandhu.
