Does anyone know who will be at Skate Chautauqua?

I was wondering what Novice, Junior and Seniors were going to be at this event.

Sara Wheat's web page claims she will be in Chautauqua.

Here are some of the results...

Preliminary Pairs Free

1. Tingley/Donovan - They had really good speed for a preliminary pair, and I have to admit that I really liked their music choice - very different, Eleanor Rigby. I think that both of these skaters could have some potential.

2. Lunsford/Lunsford - Everyone was talking about Alexandra since she's only 7 and tiny at that. They skated to the Mickey Mouse Club theme.

Intermediate Pairs Free

1. Lovasik/Ferlic - No contest here.

2. Wetterich/Thomson

3. Murrary/Giunipero - I actually had this team in second. They started out great and then ran into problems in the second half of their program. She was actually doing double duty and won the Intermediate Ladies Freeskate.

Senior Ladies Free

There were lots of no shows here. There were only 2 ladies that competed in the short and then only 3 in the free. The top names didn't come including Sara Wheat. I did not hear why.

1. Rhiannon Kallis
2. Jenny (Cooper, I think. She was a late add and not in the program. She skates out of the SC of Western NY.)
3. Trina Robinson

1. Alyssa Marie Murray/SC of MT Lebanon
2. Christy Parker/Queen City FSC
3. Kristen Wilson/SC of New Hartford
4. Mariana Cole/Amherst SC - I was quite impressed with her skate. She had nice jumps with decent height and rotation. The program was to Miss Saigon.
5. Samantha Jamie Shiring/SC of Mt Lebanon - Also, a nice skate. Good spring on her jumps and a spinner.
6. Tawny Sacilowski/SC of Western NY - fast jump rotation but not alot of height. Skated to Sound of Music
7. Ann Lesnefsky/Shaker FSC
8. Natalie Falsgraf/Pavilion SC
9. Taylor Firth/Amherst FSC - She was coached by Lisa Erwin. She appears to have all the pieces but just couldn't put it together. I'm not sure if it might have just been a serious case of the nerves.
10. Tara Kauffman/Shaker FSC
11. Kristin O'Hern/Westminster FSC
12. Marissa Hirsh/Queen City FSC

There were actually 4 groups of intermediate ladies, so they actually had a qualifier and only the top 12 made it to the finals.

I also watched the novice and junior ladies freeskate. I didn't get the results, but I have a few notes. Let me know if there's anyone that you're interested in.

I would keep an eye out for Kimmie Meissner/UDEl in Novice. She's just 10 years old and already has a 3T. She carries lots of speed and had a great program - 3T, 2A, and 3 jump combo. Even the other novice ladies were talking about how good she was.

I must agree completely about Kimmie Meissner's skating..great flow and jumps. But she is 13 years old..not 10. She should do very well this year at Souths. ;)

Novice Ladies Freeskate

Kelly O'Grady - skated to Phantom of the Opera medley, good speed and spins. She also had a very interesting costume. It looked totally different on ice than up close. When I saw her in the stands before skating, I was really worried. It was black and white; kind of a "mod" pattern of swirling stripes. Yes, just as scary as it sounds. On ice, it looked terrific. Someone definitely took the time to see how it might look in performance.

Breanne Scully - skated to Nessa Dorma. She looked very confident and had a wonderful spiral. Wore a very tasteful blue costume.

Special Exhibition

Senior Dance competitors K. Navarro and R. Schamalo did their free dance for this season. They will be debuting it in competition at Nebelhorn. The dance didn't excite me, but I didn't really get into the music. I think that you might need to either see it again or see it after the pre-season kinks are worked out. I didn't dislike it; it just didn't grab me. I did love the costumes - royal blue with starburst details for her. Matching shirt for him with black pants. They look really tasteful, but eye catching and modern.

Ice Theatre of NY

The Ice Theatre of NY did several numbers. As I didn't go Friday night, I'm not sure if they were the same or different on Saturday. I had never seen them perform and was slightly uneasy if I would appreciate the numbers. (I'm not a big modern dance fan.). I really enjoyed it and would encourage anyone with the chance to see them. They did a variety of numbers, so if one isn't your taste, you'll probably still find a couple that you'll enjoy.
