Wow, what a great start to the season for Cynthia! I can hardly wait to get home to watch the tape!

Wahoo! Go Cynthia! This gets me very excited about future women's skating in Canada. Not a bad showing for Mira and Lelsey either for their first Grand Prix assignments.

My daughter and I were watching the event and Yukari landed a triple axel in warm up and two footed it in the competiton. No one seemed to notice because only a few of us noticed.

Meh, I'm not impressed TSN only showed a few seconds of both Mira's and Lesley's SPs. I know they're far down the ranks right now, but apparently they both skated cleanly and when was the last time three Canadian ladies skated cleanly at an international event? I hope we'll get to see both their LPs in their entirety...especially if they skate as well as they apparently did today.
All I have to say about Cynthia's SP is . Since she's had to fight back after a disappointing SP during her last few competitions, I hope she can hold it together during the LP and at least win another medal. CBC even aired a short profile of her at the end of tonight's National broadcast. :)
I'm also impressed with how much Yoshie's artistry--or at least her facial expressions--has improved this year!
It's strange to see an international ladies' event without one single US competitor, though...I can't remember the last time that's ever happened!

When was the last time ONE Canadian lady skated cleanly? :)

go cynthia
wow that program was pretty amazing
too bad fumie fell though
she was really good too!
Here is why I'm so glad CBC has so much of the skating coverage this year.
They would have shown all three skates and been over the moon over that kind of showing by our women.
TSN-- "uh, yeh the other two ladies skated clean too" followed by a brief clip of said skaters smiling broadly.
Skating coverage at it's best.
But great skate by Phaneuf. Guess her coach made the right call last year.
And as an aside, Julia Sebastyn, take some of the bows off that costume PLEASE. It's far too "busy"

Grr! CTV only showed a few clips from Mira and Lesley's long programs tonight, too. Apparently Mira landed a 3-lutz/2-loop combination in the SP, too (the only one in the competition). But if there's one bright side to CTV/TSN not making a bigger deal out of their skating, at least Rod Black didn't get a chance to jinx them by calling them "the next one" this time.
And yeah, Julia Sebastyen wins my "worst dressed female skater of the year award" so far...
