I'm thrilled for Jeff. I haven't watched my tape from last night yet -- anyone know what he did?

And way to go for Ben too, woo hoo! Obviously he's still got something in him!

3-7 are really bunched together. The LP is going to be interesting.

In case you haven't gotten around to watching your tape yet, Jeff doubled the second jump of his attempted triple-triple combination, but nailed all his other jumps (including the 3-axel). No quad attempt, but Jeff said he will try one in his LP. Jeff also finished a few seconds behind the music, but I don't think it affected his marks very much. :) The program was gorgeous, though, and I can't wait to see his LP!

I'm also thrilled Ben was able to skate cleanly and move up to second. Emanuel, OTOH, all I have to say is :frus: :frus: :frus:. At least he was able to come back and land that 3-axel after popping his quad (something he hasn't been able to do in the past) and I still hope getting performances like these out of his system early in the season means he'll finally be able to save his best performances for when it really counts. I hope.

I'm :?? as to why Ryan's so far down the pack when so many of the skaters ahead of him made mistakes and the judges, for the most part, seem to be rewarding clean, well-performed programs over popped jumps or falls. Except when it came to Ryan. :(

I noticed almost all the guys were doing sideways-leaning sit spins and camel spins in their SPs. Do these get extra points under CoP?

All and all, an exciting competition and an interesting mix of programs. I hope the long programs will be even more exciting. Go Jeff and Ben! :D
